We realize a one-way conversation only gets you so far before you hit a wall. And, to get the most out of this site, you need a two-way street between FBC and you. Well, you've found the place to make it happen.
What do I need to do?
Create an account so we know who you are.
What do you need to know?
Just the basics – contact information, user id, password, and birthdate.
Why do you need my birthdate?
Three reasons, really – none of them with any hidden agenda:
- Knowing the life stage you’re in helps us make sure you get information that is helpful to you.
- This information guarantees your online account information is secure – so hackers can’t access your online giving records or any other personal information.
- Although there is no “inappropriate” content on our site whatsoever, certain events and classes are age restricted. The birthdate prevents children from registering for adult events.
What can I do after I create a MyFBC account?
We'll keep it brief and give you the highlights here.
- Free, weekly Community Update Enewsletter. [This is the primary place to find out about all the news and events at FBC. You'll have the inside scoop about special events, hot volunteer opportunities, upcoming message series, real life stories, new medias and more,]
- Online registration for events, classes and groups. [24/7, whenever it's convenient for you.]
- Online sign-up for volunteer opportunities. [Avoid the lines at the guest information desk between the services.]
- Priority status when you contact us via the web. Your personal id and message is routed to directly to an assigned staff person who recognizes your FBC account. [Your message won't sit in a generic mailbox with all other general requests.]
I don't want to be bombarded or spammed with church mailings.
Don't worry. We hate that, too. We get that "your space" is not "our space". We even have a team dedicated to protecting your time and privacy. The purpose of your FBC account is to make it easy for you to do what you need to do online to take your next step. It's not for us to capture your information so we can invade your personal space just adding more noise and clutter to your life. We're serious about that.
I'm nervous about sharing my personal information online.
At many sites, we would be too. That’s why we’ve made this one completely secure. Let’s clarify what you won’t get when you create a MyFBC account:
- spammed, harassed and profiled for marketing purposes
- sold to the highest bidder
- deluged with information you don’t want, don’t need or didn’t ask for
- infiltrated by spyware or asked for money
- instant-messaged by random strangers
- emails forwards with cookie recipes, chain letters or angel poems
Will I use MyFBC account like I use my eBay or Amazon accounts?
Your MyFBC account is not a retail account or ecommerce line where you manage your profile, user preferences, shopping cart, wish list, products and services, etc. It's a simple and secure online connection between you and FBC. It's like an online ticket that allows you access to interactive parts of the site that aren't available to anonymous surfers. And, since we won't use cookies on FBClinked.org (install our files on your machine), your MyFBC account is the only way for us to know for sure it's you when you enter the interactive places on FBClinked.org.
What else do I need to know?
Once you set-up your information the first time, that's it. You won't have to enter it again. But, for security reasons, you may be asked to verify it. And, to prevent the Emails you do receive from FBC from going into your bulk or spam folder, add communityupdate@fbclinked.org to your address book.
I want to subscribe to the weekly enewsletter.
