Overview :: Disciple's View :: Discipler's View :: Frequently Asked Questions
What does discipleship require of me?
Discipleship at First Baptist requires a regular weekly commitment. Our goal is that you and your discipler become intimate friends, sharing lives and problems, answering questions and learning the Word of God together.
What does the process consist of?
Through the structure of six lessons you will explore questions such as…
- Who is God?
- Who is Satan?
- Who is Man?
and will learn more about topics such as…
- Baptism
- God’s Word
- Prayer
- and much more.
What will it cost?
Perhaps the greatest cost will be your time. Things of high value will always cost a lot.
One to one and a half hours each week with your discipler is where you will begin. Daily personal time in prayer and reading God’s Word will develop out of your discipling relationship. The process can take you up to two years, but it will change your life.
Who can become a disciple?
Anyone attending First Baptist may become a disciple in this ministry. We only ask that they be committed.
Who can become a discipler?
A discipler must:
- Be a member of First Baptist Church
- Have finished discipler’s training
- Be committed to becoming a living model of a life devoted to Christ
- Be passionate about investing their own life in the lives of others
Discipleship is a process whereby a mature Christian invests the Word of God and their own walk with Christ into another believer with the strategic intent that their disciple does the same with another believer.
