Ever since I can remember other people have been monitoring my behavior. Sit up straight don't talk with food in your mouth, put the toilet seat down when your done.
As we grow older we must realize that our behavior is a result on something inside of us. Our heart.
Solomon the wisest man who ever lived said that we need to “keep our hearts with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life”. Monitoring our behavior is no longer enough we need to learn to monitor or “keep” out hearts.
You can’t do that in church! Wanna bet?
Imagine stepping into a large room. The music is loud and upbeat. Every where you look are sofas, pool tables, Xbox and computers stations. Across the room is a concession stand servings snacks, beverages and pizza. To your right and around the corner is another room. At the front is a stage with lights, guitars, drums and a keyboard. In the back is a sound board and all kinds of computer equipment. You can't help but notice that people are mingling and discussing; who’s there, who's not, who’s new and who's late. Welcome to 180, the place to be if you're in high school.
Why do we do this? Because if you’re a teenager, chances are you avoid church like the plague. It’s boring. Irrelevant. And the music is ... face it ... lame.
So what else do we offer besides a unique environment?
- Here’s the tip of the iceberg: Your kind of music – live and loud. Safe place to ask questions, get answers and find the truth.
- Leaders who talk to you, not at you about hard issues you face every day.
- Opportunities to help others around the corner, across the country and around the world. Videos and discussions that make sense of the Bible.
Connections to students that have the same problems, hassles and fashion sense.
Volunteer. Are you an adult who comprehends the pressures and challenges of young people today? Are you a student who wants to serve your peers? Want them to know how much they matter to God – no matter what?
